My mission is to honor photography’s past by continuing to discover and refine my own personal style in order that I might play some small part in creating photography’s future.  And if I don’t?  At least I’ll leave behind a large body of work!

ABOUT ME

Hi there.  I'm Marc and I eat, sleep and breathe photography.

I grew up in the time when the modern day analog SLR (what most of us think of when we hear the word "camera") was just beginning to hit its peak.  My father had a Canon AE-1.  As a child who was strongly drawn to shiny mechanical things, I stole every opportunity to pick that camera up and handle it.  I'd click the shutter, turn the focus ring and wind the film advance lever.  Of course I had no idea how any of it worked or what I was doing, but I knew I loved holding that camera.

In Boy Scouts, we made pinhole cameras and developed our exposed photo paper.  Later, as a freshman in high-school, I signed up for Photo 101 (with my dad's old AE-1).  I remember like it was yesterday.  Stepping through the light-tight cylindrical door into the dim red glow of the safe-light felt like stepping onto the bridge of a submarine.  Dunking the exposed photo paper into the developer tray and watching the image arise from the blank page was like poetry and alchemy all in one. I felt like a wizard.  I was hooked for life!

At Raritan Valley Community College (they have an amazing photography program and dark room) I mastered that old AE-1.  Finally, every button, every dial and every number on the camera made perfect sense!  I also dove even deeper into the past and learned old photo processing and printing techniques like cyanotype, gum-bichromate printing and copperplate (Edinburgh) etching.  I made countless pinhole cameras and experimented with camera obscura.  I also learned digital photography and did photojournalism for the school newspaper.

I graduated from Rutgers with a degree in political science and a minor in economics (naturally, lol) but it was my time at RVCC that drove me into photography - where I plan to stay for the rest of my days.

So if you need an updated headshot, family portraits, corporate event photography, editorial or branding photos, or whatever else... hit me up!
